Jim Sweeney  

Jim Sweeney, President

Jim founded DSS in 1995 with a vision to provide total lifecycle infrastructure solutions that maximize our clients’ investments in technology. Jim recruited a very skilled technical team, established strong industry partnerships, and built a portfolio of services that deliver exceptional value. Jim has 40 years of experience in the information technology industry. He began his career with IBM in Endicott, NY, as a programmer and later relocated to Reading, PA, as a sales executive. During his tenure in Reading, he consistently exceeded sales objectives, and expanded IBM’s strategic relationship with customer executives in the manufacturing, banking, retail, utility, and healthcare industries. As president of DSS, Jim continues to work closely with regional executives, developing DSS solutions to address their business needs and the rapidly changing technology landscape. He also serves on the Avnet Advisory Council, a group of IT leaders who provide input to Avnet, IBM’s largest customer and a distributor of IBM product to the solution provider channel. Jim earned a Bachelors degree from King’s College, and a Masters of Business Administration from Scranton University. He currently serves as Trustee for Alvernia College, Reading, PA. He and his wife reside in Wyomissing. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. Jim is an avid Notre Dame sports fan.


Carl Marks  

Carl Marks, Chief Operating Officer

Carl joined DSS as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2002. He is responsible for the DSS Data Center business and for Finance, Human Resources, IT and Process Improvement. Before joining DSS, Carl was Vice President of Information Services at Carpenter Technology Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company headquartered in Reading, PA. In that role, he transformed the company’s view of information services from “overhead cost” to “value added service provider.” He led process initiatives to reduce cost and improve service quality. And, he traveled to India and Taiwan to integrate new business acquisitions. He was a member of the executive team and made certain that Carpenter’s information technology strategy supported business unit strategies. Carl is active in the community serving on committees with Berks Economic Partnership, and Wall Street West. He holds a Bachelors degree from Elizabethtown College and a Masters of Business Administration from Lehigh University. He and his wife live in Sinking Spring and have three children and one grandchild.


Scott Kanter  

Scott Kantner, Chief Technology Officer

Scott Kantner is the Chief Technology Officer of DSS with expertise in IT infrastructure design and software engineering. Scott has been with the company since its inception, establishing corporate vision and selecting the technology that DSS delivers to its clients. Scott is an extremely knowledgeable IT consultant with over 25 years' experience. He holds certifications from IBM, Tivoli, APC, Microsoft, and The Open Group. Scott is responsible for DSS’s internal architecture, developing DSS’s customer infrastructure solutions, and working with customers to develop IT infrastructure solutions aligned with their business requirements. Scott’s experience spans multiple industry sectors including banking, financial, manufacturing, energy and retail. During the formative years of DSS, Scott participated in both the design and delivery of customer solutions, and later became responsible for managing DSS’s systems engineering staff. As the company grew, the need to exploit new technology for both customer and DSS advantage also grew, and Scott became DSS’s first CTO. In addition to helping customers leverage their investments in technology, Scott is develops DSS’s portfolio of hosting solutions. Scott holds a Bachelors degree in Computing & Information Sciences from Lehigh University. He is active in his church. Scott and his wife reside in Hamburg, PA, and have three children.


Ann Borza  

Ann Borza, Vice President Services

Ann Borza joined DSS in 1997 and is responsible for the all DSS Services, which includes managed services, data center services and project based services provided by DSS delivery teams. Her team focuses on providing exceptional value in long-term contracts, specific project deliverables, and is responsible for day to day support.  She is also responsible for DSS Marketing. Ann has over 15 years' experience in the technology industry and began her career with IBM in Reading, PA. She is ITIL Foundation certified and speaks at DSS and industry events regarding IT service effectiveness and business value. Prior to joining DSS, Ann held leadership positions in marketing and development with the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital and the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Ann holds a Bachelors degree from Juniata College. She and her husband reside in the Lancaster area, PA and have two children.


John Bunting  

John Bunting, Vice President of Sales

John joined DSS as Vice President of Sales in 2005. He is responsible for hardware and software product offering including IBM, Cisco, HP, APC, and Microsoft, and for sales of DSS services. Before joining DSS John was an IBM Territory Executive where he managed an IBM sales team that served thousands of customers in the Delaware Valley and Central PA and generated over $275 million in annual revenue. His IBM career is unique in that he served his entire tenure in the greater Philadelphia region, first as a sales representative and then rising within the ranks of sales management. In 25 years on a sales quota, John made an astounding 22 “IBM 100 Percent Clubs.” As a manager, he also achieved 7 “Golden Circles,” an elite recognition for the top 10% of the IBM global sales force. In addition to this winning record, John is respected even more for his personal integrity, team leadership, and commitment to customers. John graduated with a bachelor degree from Bucknell University. He lives in the Philadelphia Area with his wife and three children.


Mary Bosack  

Mary Bosack, Chief Financial Officer

Mary Bosack joined DSS in 2008 as the company’s Controller before being promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2009.  She manages the operations and employees of the DSS Finance and HR departments.  In her role as CFO, Mary has made significant improvements to DSS’ existing financial reporting systems, reducing reporting time while improving the reliability and depth of financial information.  She also led her team in the successful implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including time management and accounting components used within DSS today.  Mary has 18 years' experience in accounting and finance and is a member of the IMA (Association for Accounting & Financial Professionals in Business).  She received her Bachelors degree in Professional Accountancy and her Masters of Business Administration from Penn State University. Outside of DSS, Mary is actively involved in raising awareness of pit bull mistreatment and abuse, and has adopted three dogs of her own.  She and her husband reside in Schuylkill County with their children.
